[Case Study] Neutralization Treatment of High-Temperature Wastewater

We introduce case studies of automatic pH neutralization systems that can handle both high-temperature acidic wastewater and alkaline wastewater!

We received an order for the pH neutralization treatment, including construction, due to the addition of a new line from a food factory. All tanks were selected as heat-resistant tanks (80°C) due to the high-temperature wastewater. The pH meter was also changed to a high-temperature specification, and our heat-resistant submersible pump model JCVH was incorporated into the raw water pump. The user's wastewater is discharged in batches, and depending on the situation, it can be either acidic or alkaline. Therefore, we implemented control on both sides to accommodate either condition for neutralization. A vertical mixer for dilution stirring was installed in the sulfuric acid tank. The shaft and impeller were processed with FRP lining for sulfuric acid resistance. We adopted our electromagnetic pump for both sulfuric acid and caustic soda injection pumps. It seemed that price was a priority for them, but the proposal from the salesperson who conducted the site survey, along with the fact that our company could handle both the installation and removal work, was highly evaluated, leading to their decision to adopt our solution. They wanted to minimize the hassle of chemical replenishment, so we selected a 2m3 tank for the chemical storage. The installation location was also separate from the main neutralization equipment. We received a message from a major food factory in Kansai stating that they are "looking for a neutralization device for CIP wastewater discharged from a newly established factory." Due to the complexity of the control, we proposed using a sequencer (touch panel). They appreciated that we could handle the entire construction, leading to our adoption. If neutralization does not occur for any reason, they cannot stop the equipment line. Therefore, considering all possibilities, we designed a flow that returns to the raw water tank if the average value of the two electrodes installed in the discharge tank is NG. Additionally, during the construction phase, we held discussions from the foundation design stage and worked with the user on the buried pipes from the raw water tank (concrete pit). We received an inquiry from an architectural design company regarding a neutralization system for a clinic that is planned to be newly constructed. Since this is a meeting at the architectural design stage, we discussed details such as the drainage route, the space for the neutralization system, and the positions of the inlet and drainage pipes. Additionally, discussions with the architectural design company included the installation location, plumbing, electrical aspects, and specifications of the neutralization system, which were also coordinated with the dialysis machine manufacturer (Nipro) to proceed in detail. With 90 beds, the required processing capacity was somewhat larger, but we were able to clear the space requirements, and we managed to compactly integrate everything, including receiving all drainage through the storage tank on the Nipro side with the neutralization system.
